Yvonne’s Friday 11th March

I caught a cold, I think it was in the early hours of Friday morning, but it has kept me home, and not one to waste my precious time, I’ve been organising my databases, and planning for The Lord Mayor of Cork’s reception for the CMAP awards team.

Lord Mayor Cllr. Chris O’Leary, has invited the Cork Martial Arts Promotions (CMAP) team, this includes award winners, well known Cork guest presenters, the CMAP Hall of Famers, and crew to a reception at City Hall, Thursday 24th March 6pm. This is an opportunity to thank everyone for their contribution to CMAP.

Leonard Coughlan from Kinsale, the founder of CMAP runs an academy of Tae Kwon Do Schools, in Bandon and Mahon. He created CMAP because he saw a need to celebrate the achievements of our Cork Martial Artists. Leonard has seen first-hand how involvement in these sports disciplines has shaped lives for the better, and how one success story can inspire another, or how one coach can have a positive effect on so many lives.

The evening has always been a great success with more clubs and varying disciplines coming together each year, to see the video compilations and award speeches. This is a moving and inspirational community event, and has many memorable moments every year.  The event is based on the CMAP motto “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
